To make sure she was truly taking in the sights, we set up a bingo game for her to play during her stay. She saw all but 3 items. If you click on the picture to make it bigger you might be able to make some of the squares out. My favorite one that she checked off was the crowded train. The three of us ended up on a train that was beyond crowded. So crowded, in fact, that people were being squeezed and pushed onto the train and I literally stood on my tiptoes to make sure my lungs had room to expand. Drew and I hadn't even experienced anything quite like that yet. I guess that's what we get for traveling during Golden Week when most of the country is off work.
First we took Kristen to Kamakura. In our opinion, this is one of the best places for viewing shrines and temples. While there we even showed her a tiny piece of Mt. Fuji that was barely visible through the clouds.
Kamakura is home to the Big Buddha, which is a must-see.
Drew and I hadn't been to the Yuigahama Beach nearby so it was new for us all.
We went to Tokyo a couple times since there is so much to see. Here we are at Meiji Shrine.
You can't go to Tokyo without investigating the arcades. Kristen chose to try Tetris.
Kristen's favorite spot ended up being Nikko. It is a town up in the mountains with several really nice shrines and temples.
In between all of the sights we had a ton of great food, fantastic weather, and a great time. I'm so happy she was able to come join us in our tiny apartment!
